East Midnapore Police lodged a suo motu case after BJP MLA and former India pacer Ashok Dinda alleged cops were extorting money from Moyna fish traders, and issued the MLA a summons, reports Suman Mandal. Cops said Dinda had sought more time .“Every evening, policemen on scooters stand by the roads to collect Rs 100-200 from every fish van. I have video evidence of this,” Dinda had alleged in an undated video. “Fifty percent of the extorted money stays at the local PS, while the rest goes to the SP,” he said. SP Mitun Kumar De said, “Such comments are not expected from a responsible public representative.”
