Vadodara: The first nomination for the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) elections was filed on Saturday by Dr Darshan Banker, promoter of the Banker Group of Hospitals, who is contesting for the post of president.Dr Banker’s path to the top post was cleared after he approached the Gujarat High Court seeking intervention to ensure his nomination would be considered despite his absence on the day of scrutiny due to his son’s wedding.The BCA informed the court that it would not reject the nomination on the grounds of his absence during scrutiny and that a representative of Dr Banker would be permitted to remain present on his behalf.Monday is the last day for filing nominations, while scrutiny will be conducted on Tuesday. The BCA polls are scheduled to be held on February 15.Battle lines have been drawn between rival camps over the past two months, with the Satyamev Jayate Group, led by Dr Banker, deciding to contest against the Revival Group. Both sides have held meetings of their supporters in recent weeks as a show of strength.
