Cachar admin gears up for PM Modi’s visit to Silchar on Mar 14

Silchar: The Cachar district administration has begun preparations ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Silchar on March 14, with senior state officials reviewing arrangements at the proposed rally venue on Wednesday.Assam chief secretary Ravi Kota, DGP Harmeet Singh and ministers Kaushik Rai and Krishnendu Paul inspected the Ramnagar bypass area, where the PM is scheduled to address a public meeting.

A high-level meeting was later held at the office of the Cachar district commissioner, attended by the chief secretary, DGP, ministers, district commissioner, superintendent of police and heads of various departments. Discussions were held on security coordination, crowd management, traffic control and overall administrative preparedness.Minister Kaushik Rai said the PM will address a public rally at Ramnagar bypass and lay the foundation stone of key infrastructure projects, including the Rs 25,000-crore Guwahati-Barapani-Panchgram Expressway, and the much-awaited Silchar flyover, estimated to cost Rs 700 crore.Announcing the visit earlier, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said the 166.8-km greenfield, four-lane access-controlled expressway, part of NH-06, will be implemented by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited.With multiple infrastructure projects in the pipeline, Modi’s visit is expected to provide a push to connectivity and development initiatives in Barak Valley, particularly in the run-up to the Assam polls.
