Hyderabad: Burglars broke into eight locked houses at Chengicherla in Medipally early on Friday, and escaped with 65 lakh worth of valuables, including gold, silver and cash, police said.


The movement of three suspects was captured on CCTV cameras, and police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused. According to the Medipally police, the incidents occurred at Kanakadurga Colony and Anushakti Nagar Colony. Around 2.30am, three accused, wearing masks and jackets, scaled compound walls and entered eight locked houses.“They gained entry into the houses by breaking open the door latches. The residents of these houses were at their native places for Sankranti.

As per preliminary assessment, around 30 tolas of gold, 8kg silver, and 2 lakh in cash were stolen,” Uppal DCP K Suresh Kumar said.A clues team was called to the crime scenes to collect fingerprints. Police teams have also started verifying the CCTV footage to identify the accused. “We have got some leads and our teams are trying to identify and arrest the accused,” the DCP said.“We are registering separate cases under Sections 331(4) (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) and 305 (theft in a dwelling house, or means of transportation or place of worship, etc) of the BNS,” SI Yakanna said.
