Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad witnessed a security scare on Wednesday morning after bomb threats were received for the city airport and the Ahmedabad rural court, triggering swift action by police and multiple security agencies. After extensive checks at both locations, authorities confirmed that no suspicious objects were found.The first alert was reported at the Ahmedabad rural court near Income Tax Crossroads, when the court registrar received an email warning of a suicide bomb attack. This was the second such threat to the rural court in the past 25 days. Police, fire brigade teams, the bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS), and dog squads rushed to the court complex and conducted a thorough search of the premises.Officials said court proceedings continued during the security checks. “Courts across the region have been receiving frequent bomb threats in recent months. Most turn out to be hoaxes, but every alert is treated with utmost seriousness,” a police official said.Earlier, an email threat was received at the official email ID of Ahmedabad airport, claiming a bomb had been planted in the luggage section and would explode. The email, received on Tuesday, was sent from an address bearing the name ‘Ambar Durham’ and carried a subject line referring to a bomb blast in the luggage section, along with provocative content.Following the alert, airport security agencies went on high alert. A bomb threat assessment committee was convened, and a detailed search of the airport premises was carried out. After inspections, the threat was declared non-specific and false, with no suspicious material detected.Airport authorities later lodged a complaint against an unidentified person at the airport police station for sending the threat email.The twin incidents come close on the heels of similar alerts in the city. Just five days ago, several schools in Ahmedabad received bomb threats via email, which were also found to be false after inspections, raising concerns over a spate of hoax threats targeting public institutions.
