Body of SI missing since Feb 5 found in a river

Ayodhya: The body of a police sub-inspector, who has been missing under mysterious circumstances since Feb 5, was found in a river in Basti district on Sunday.SI Ajay Gaur’s body was found in full police uniform, said SP City of Ayodhya Chakrapani Tripathi.

The deceased was posted at Basti’s Parasrampur police station.Gaur’s wife, in her statement to police, had said she last spoke to her husband on Feb 5 for 2 to 3 seconds, after which the call got disconnected.When she called again at night, the mobile was switched off. When there was no contact until morning, the wife called the constable who stays with the SI, and was told that he had not returned to his room since night.Following this, police registered a missing person case based on the wife’s complaint and began the search.The efforts to trace the missing SI, led the investigators to his bike found abandoned near Amhat Ghat in Basti.On Sunday, the body was found in the river.The SI’s wife, in a statement given to the police, mentioned an old case in which death threats were given to him.
