Kolkata: The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) completed verification of 58,113 Madhyamik-related documents received from districts across the state as part of the SIR process, officials said on Saturday.According to board sources, the Park Street office received around 3,000 to 4,000 documents over the past 20 days since the verification process began. To handle the volume, the board set up 24 verification tables to check submitted papers against WBBSE records.A senior official said the board introduced a standard operating procedure to streamline the receipt and scrutiny of documents. “Documents such as admit cards, mark sheets and certificates were submitted for verification and checked against our records,” the official said. The board also reported receiving a small number of documents issued by other boards — around 500 to 600 — which were identified during scrutiny. The documents were later returned. The exercise took place amid confusion over which school-leaving documents would be accepted. Midway through the process, the EC announced that Madhyamik admit cards won’t be accepted, leading to a sudden drop in number of admit cards submitted for verification.Following a Supreme Court order in late Jan, EC started accepting admit cards again, and the number of such documents sent for verification rose in subsequent weeks. “For a few days, documents related to mark sheets and certificates only came for verification, but Madhyamik admit cards again started coming in the last two weeks,” the official said, adding that the board did not find anything abnormal so far.
