Ahmedabad: A complaint has been filed on Monday over late Saturday night’s protest by local residents near Hotel Hillock that led to a massive traffic disruption. Around 150 people had gathered at the spot on S P Ring Road in Chandkheda demanding that a barricaded gap in the median be reopened. Chandkheda police said that they received information around 10.40pm that a crowd had gathered on the stretch between Vaishnodevi Circle and Zundal Circle. When teams reached the spot, nearly 150 people were found either sitting or standing on the main road with banners, raising slogans and stopping vehicles. The blockade caused long traffic jams.Investigators said the protest was allegedly organized through a WhatsApp group called ‘Neighbours of New Tragad’, which had members from nearby housing societies. Police claimed that messages urged residents to block the road until the cut was reopened. Some messages also allegedly suggested damaging the barricades and calling the media. An FIR was filed against seven identified persons and around 150 others under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for unlawful assembly, obstructing a public road, and damaging public property. tnn
