BJP tries to incite communal violence in TN; AIADMK has become a silent witness, says Stalin

Chennai: Chief minister M K Stalin flayed the BJP on Monday saying that the saffron party was `trying to stir communal violence in the state.’In his letter to DMK cadres, marking former CM C N Annadurai’s death anniversary, Stalin also hit out AIADMK alleging the opposition party bearing the name of Anna has forgotten his ideal of state autonomy and has `become a slave of BJP.’Stalin said the BJP was bent upon triggering “communal violence” with an eye on the upcoming assembly election. “In a land where communal violence should not be let in and poverty should be eradicated, the focus is now on how to provoke religious unrest. AIADMK, being its alliance partner, has become a silent witness,” Stalin said. “The AIADMK, which thinks that it is fighting against us (DMK), is trying to plunge the state into deep darkness,” Stalin said. The chief minister also accused the BJP of a “well planned Hindi and Sanskrit imposition” in Tamil Nadu. “In the state where Anna firmly established the two-language policy, there is now a calculated attempt by the BJP to dilute it through the imposition of Hindi and Sanskrit. The AIADMK happily joined hands with them (BJP),” Stalin said.Stalin said the BJP govt was infringing upon the state’s rights while Tamil Nadu under `Dravidian model govt’ was resisting every attempt to undermine federalism. “Our voice for state autonomy is echoed even in states ruled by non-BJP parties. But the AIADMK fears speaking about state autonomy,” Stalin said.Citing the recent economic survey data released by the Union govt, Stalin said the state grew leaps and bounds under the DMK govt in various fields despite the “BJP govt’s planned betrayal.”On Annadurai’s death anniversary on Feb 3, Stalin, along with party seniors has planned to walk from the Anna statue in Anna Salai to the Anna memorial in Kamaraj Road.
