Hyderabad: Unveiling its agenda for the upcoming urban local body elections, Telangana BJP on Friday released its civic manifesto, promising a freeze on all local taxes and a push for cleaner, safer and more efficient cities if voted to power in municipalities and municipal corporations. The manifesto, titled ‘Viksit Telangana: BJP Sankalp Patra 2026′, assures that there will be no increase in any taxes, including house tax, and outlines measures to tackle persistent urban problems such as mosquitoes, stray pigs, monkeys and dogs. It commits to 100% garbage segregation, expansion of underground sewerage networks, and strengthening SHE Teams across all urban local bodies. Releasing the document, BJP state president N Ramchander Rao said building permits would be cleared within one week through an online single-window system, with the use of AI to curb corruption. The manifesto also promises upgrades to local community health centres, skill development hubs, regular job fairs and the creation of multi-purpose parks in every urban body. Protection of temple lands and removal of encroachments form part of the agenda. Rao said the manifesto charts a roadmap to transform towns and cities into modern urban spaces through better infrastructure, services, employment and healthcare, while ensuring corruption-free governance and effective use of Finance Commission grants. Addressing a campaign meeting in Narsapur in Medak, Rao alleged an ‘undisclosed agreement’ between the BRS and Congress over the slow pace of probes into the phone tapping case and Kaleshwaram project lapses case, and called for a CBI takeover of the entire case, claiming scrutiny was limited to only three barrages.
