Vadodara: The city unit of the Congress party accused the BJP of plotting to remove thousands of names from the voter list by misusing Form 7 objections. City Congress president Rutvij Joshi said over 46,000 applications were made in five assembly segments using Form 7, by which a voter can raise objections about another voter.“Many of these objections were filed by BJP members. It is a ploy to remove genuine voters from the voter list,” Joshi alleged. He said objections on over 4,500 voters were raised by just 152 applicants in the Vadodara City assembly segment. “Why did so few applicants raise multiple objections? We verified the details of applicants and found that the EPIC numbers given by them were false,” Joshi added.“We demand that the collector initiate action and file FIRs against those who are falsely raising objections with the intention of removing genuine voters from the list,” he said. On Monday, police detained Congress workers who had takne out a rally and were on their way to submit a memorandum to the collector about the alleged false objections.
