A coordination meeting in Kolkata formally briefed the leaders on their assignments, which include booth management, voter outreach, coordination with local party units and expanding the BJP’s presence in targeted constituencies.Several leaders have been given charge of more than one constituency, underlining the scale of the party’s push in Bengal, particularly after BJP’s recent electoral gains in Bihar. Those present at the meeting included Tripura power minister Ratan Lal Nath, panchayat minister Kishore Barman, MLAs Bhagaban Das, Sushanta Deb and Shambhu Lal Chakma, former Union minister Pratima Bhowmik, and BJP state general secretary Amit Rakshit.Leaders including Pratima Bhowmik, Abhishek Deb Roy, Nabadal Banik, Sushanta Deb and Bhagaban Das have been tasked with responsibility for up to seven Assembly constituencies each, while others will oversee one constituency, focusing on micro-level planning, feedback collection and coordination with local leadership.BJP’s central leadership has positioned West Bengal as a top political priority, with Union minister Bhupendra Yadav and Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb participating in campaign activity in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also begun visiting Bengal as the party prepares a high-visibility campaign.A senior leader stated, “The party chief has instructed leaders from various states to intensify their presence in West Bengal, stressing the significance of sustained organizational engagement over sporadic election-time appearances. The deployment of Tripura leaders is part of a broader national strategy to ensure continuous ground-level engagement.”Party leaders said the deployment is aimed at transferring Tripura’s grassroots mobilisation methods—cadre-building, booth management and structured outreach—to counter entrenched regional forces in Bengal. The Tripura team’s work will include regular constituency tours, engagement with party workers, public outreach programmes and raising local issues to shape the campaign narrative.BJP is also seeking to leverage leaders from a culturally and geographically proximate state, with the party expecting Tripura leaders’ historical and social ties with parts of Bengal to help them read local dynamics and communicate the party’s message more effectively.
