Jalandhar: A BJP delegation, led by former Jalandhar West MLA Sheetal Angural, on Tuesday submitted a complaint to Jalandhar deputy commissioner and municipal commissioner Vinit Dhir, alleging illegal construction on central govt land near Bhargo Nagar Jalandhar police station.Angural also submitted earlier communiques by Punjab govt officials who held that the piece of land was owned by the Central govt.
Angural urged that those claiming ownership based on a 1992 registry should be investigated regarding the location, side, and khasra number mentioned in the registry, and on what basis their ownership stood. “If anything wrong is found, the intkal registry should be cancelled and legal action taken against guilty officials, illegal occupants, and those trying to grab govt land by providing them protection,” he said in the complaint. Angural said illegal construction was going on under the nose of MC officials despite ownership document in central govt’s name and orders against any activity from Punjab govt’s secretary and the DC. The delegation included Jalandhar BJP general secretary Ashok Sarin Hikki and other functionaries. Hikki appealed to the DC to form a joint action committee under the ADC’s leadership, comprising the revenue department, municipal corporation, and police, to investigate every aspect, including ownership, possession, registry, and demarcation, before any construction took place on this disputed land.
