Kolkata: A 25-year-old biker, Tridib Chowdhury, died on Sunday morning after he lost control of his motorbike and crashed into a median divider on the airport-bound flank of the New Town–Baguiati corridor. The deceased, a resident of Baguiati, suffered critical head injuries. He was declared dead at a nearby private hospital. Cops said Chowdhury was returning home from a friend’s residence in Atharotala when the accident occurred. Witnesses said, the speeding bike suddenly veered off course and rammed into the concrete median. Officers said they questioned Chowdhury’s friends, who told investigators that he spent Saturday night at a friend’s home, and on Sunday morning, he left for home along with another friend, who was riding a separate motorcycle. He also told cops that Chowdhury was wearing a helmet when he left.”They travelled together till Biswa Bangla Gate. From there, Chowdhury took the airport-bound road to head towards Baguiati, while the other rider turned towards Salt Lake,” a senior officer said.
However, no helmet was recovered from the accident site. Chowdhury worked with a sports management company in Kalyani and also assisted his family in running a local cable television business.
