Bike thief gets over 2-year prison term

Kendrapada: A court in Kendrapada’s Pattamundai on Tuesday sentenced a bike lifter to two years, two months and fifteen days of imprisonment in connection with the theft of a motorcycle of an advocate’s clerk from the court premises in Pattamundai last year.The advocate’s clerk, Susant Das, lodged an FIR in Pattamundai police station and alleged that on Feb 21, 2025, his bike had been stolen from the court premises. Acting on the complaint, police launched an investigation The bike theft was recorded in the court’s CCTV for which police arrested the accused Deepak Sethi (30) of Jaguleipada village and seized the stolen bike from him.The judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) DK Balakrishana pronounced the judgment after relying on the evidence of ten witnesses and CCTV footage, said Chita Ranjan Das, the assistant public prosecutor.
