NEW DELHI: A 21-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death following a minor dispute over lighting a cigarette in South-West Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area on Tuesday.According to police, they received information about a stabbing incident around 11.40pm via a PCR call from the JJ Bandhu Camp area, B-5 and B-6, under the jurisdiction of Vasant Kunj North police station. A police team immediately rushed to the spot but found that the injured man was already taken to a hospital.Soon after, police received information from Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj, regarding the admission of a stabbing victim who was later declared dead. The investigating officer reached the hospital and found that confirmed a stab injury to the neck turned fatal for the victim.During a preliminary inquiry, the deceased was identified as Karan, a resident of the JJ Camp. “The incident occurred after Karan got into a minor verbal altercation with some individuals over passing a matchstick to light a bidi. The argument escalated, leading to the fatal stabbing,” a senior police officer said.The crime team inspected the scene, and local enquiries were conducted. A case was registered at Vasant Kunj North police station under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is currently underway, police added with efforts underway to trace and arrest the absconding suspects.
