Pune: A Bibvewadi resident (47) lost Rs42.66 lakh in online share-trading fraud between Nov 16 last year and Jan 27 this year.The police said the victim received a link on WhatsApp for share market investments. He initially invested small amounts and received some returns. After some time, the accused told him to transfer money to different bank accounts on various pretexts, the police said. The suspects stopped all communications with the victim after a few days. He lodged a complaint on Wednesday at the Market Yard police station.“People should avoid clicking on suspicious links and must not share their bank details with unknown people,” senior inspector Sangeeta Devkate of the Cyber police station said.
