BHU prof feted for Buddhist culture promotion | Varanasi News

Varanasi: Senior professor in department of Pali and Buddhist Studies at BHU and currently Vice-Chancellor of Nava Nalanda Mahavihara, Nalanda, Prof Siddharth Singh, was honoured with ‘Buddhist Culture Promotion Award’ by Governor Anandiben Patel, at a felicitation ceremony held on Republic Day, at Jan Bhavan in Lucknow. Singh was recognised for remarkable contributions to education, Buddhist studies, academic leadership and promotion of Indian knowledge traditions at the national and international levels.This award was presented by UP department of culture. Singh also received a cash prize of Rs 51,000 and certificate of appreciation. The award ceremony was attended by scholars, academics, representatives of cultural institutions and dignitaries from across the country.After receiving the award, Prof Singh expressed his gratitude, attributing this achievement to values instilled in him at BHU, his parents and teachers. He said his ultimate goal was to connect India’s ancient intellectual traditions with contemporary global contexts and that the award strengthened his resolve further to continue working in that direction.
