Pune: The Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) College of Engineering, Pune, conducted a 5-day international faculty development programme (FDP) with an emphasis on recent trends in information technology, artificial intelligence and its applications in healthcare and industry.The FDP featured international speakers from academia, healthcare and industry and aimed at strengthening research orientation and practical learning in emerging technologies.
A key highlight of the event was the inauguration of the ‘Flow AI Innovation and Research Laboratory’, set up under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Floww APIs and the Department of Information Technology at the college. The lab was inaugurated by Erik Hallström, Consul General of Finland in Mumbai, in the presence of senior university officials, faculty, industry experts and students.Speaking at the event, Hallström underlined the importance of digital skills, lifelong learning and the responsible use of technology. He said cooperation between Indian and Finnish institutions could play a major role in shaping the future of digital education while ensuring trust, transparency and human values in the use of AI.Vice-Chancellor Vivek Saoji stressed the need for continuous upskilling for faculty and students in the fast-changing AI landscape. Principal Rajesh Prasad highlighted the institution’s focus on innovation, research and industry-linked learning, supported by advanced laboratories and qualified faculty.
