Bengaluru multi-vehicle collision: Family loses breadwinner in tragedy; 7 dead
Speeding XUV snuffs out 26-year-old sole breadwinner in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: For 26-year-old Gagan, the early hours of Friday were supposed to mark the end of another long shift at work and the start of a quiet weekend with family. But a routine ride back home turned into a brutal tragedy when he was fatally knocked down by a speeding XUV.Gagan, an employee at Access Warehouse Pvt Ltd, was navigating the familiar stretch of road towards home in the pre-dawn stillness when the unthinkable happened. Police reports indicate that the XUV rammed into his two-wheeler from behind. The impact was so severe Gagan collapsed instantly. He sustained a critical head injury and died of excessive bleeding before any help could reach him.

Beyond the police reports and the mangled metal, Gagan had been the heartbeat of his household. He was the sole breadwinner for a family of four, carrying a level of responsibility beyond his years. His mother, who is visually impaired, depended entirely on him. He was the support system for his sister, and despite his demanding job, Gagan never forgot his roots. He often assisted his father in their rose fields, swapping warehouse logs for agricultural tools whenever he found time. Gagan’s father, holding back tears at the mortuary of MVJ Medical College and Research Hospital in Hoskote, told TOI: “It is our fate. I don’t know what happened, but they analysed his body, wrapped it up, and gave it to us.” Relatives recalled Gagan as a young, resilient man. Despite working long hours, he ensured his earnings supported both the mounting household expenses and the family’s rose cultivation. He was not just providing an income; he was providing a future, a relative said, adding: “But he has been taken away. He was not at fault… speeding and reckless driving by others killed him.”
