MUMBAI: A “Bengali baba” or self-styled godman was arrested by a joint team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) from Central and Western Railway for illegally pasting and distributing publicity material in trains and on railway premises. The operation was carried out on February 17. Mohammad Nazir Andari was apprehended from a dargah at Reay Road, acting on specific information. Around 15,000 printed posters were recovered from him. During interrogation, Andari admitted to using railway premises, including train coaches, to promote his business without obtaining any permission from the Railways. An FIR was registered against Andari. Further questioning revealed the involvement of other suspects who had assisted him in printing and pasting publicity material inside railway coaches. The investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend his associates, and financial transactions linked to the printing agency are being examined.
