Bengal shuffles 3 IPS officers

Kolkata: The state govt on Thursday directed Basirhat Police Superintendent Hossain Mehedi Rehman to take charge as the Jangipur SP, while Arish Bilal was appointed Basirhat SP.Bilal was previously posted as the Special Superintendent of the Intelligence Branch. Shaw Kumar Amit, the former SP of Jangipur, has been transferred to the post of SP, Alipurduar. K Umesh Ganpat, who previously served as the SP of Alipurduar, has been posted as SS of IB, north Bengal.

The state govt notified the creation of 20% additional posts across various state services. CM Mamata Banerjee announced the move on social media following a cabinet meeting.Nabanna also decided to create six additional posts for joint secretaries within the West Bengal Secretariat Services (WBSS), bringing the total strength of joint secretaries from the WBSS to 36.
