Kanpur: Bareilly defeated Prayagraj by 9 wickets in the final State Veteran Cricket tournament and won the Dr Gaur Hari Singhania Trophy at TSH ground on Sunday.The final was delayed as the ground was wet, and it commenced at 2.30 p.m. To compensate for the time, the final was reduced to 10 overs per innings instead of the routine 20 overs per innings.Prayagraj, after being invited to bat first, posted 7 for 56 runs in 10 overs. Bareilly batsmen, in reply, displayed aggressive batting and scored the required 57 runs for the loss of one wicket in 7.1 overs. Earlier, the final was inaugurated by Piyush Agarwal and former UP Ranji Trophy captain Rahul Sapru.After the final, chief guest Gopal Sharma, former Test cricketer, presented the trophies to the winner and runner-up teams. The Man of the Match award was given to Anuj Sharma of Bareilly. IM Rohatgi (president), Girish Kapoor (general secretary), Jitendra Awasthi, Vijay Dixit, Vivek John, Anurag Kapoor, Manish Malviya, Ashu Mehrotra, and Pradeep Salwan were present during the match and function. tnn
