Bandi alleges Cong-BRS-MIM nexus to block BJP mayor in Karimnagar

Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay on Saturday alleged that Congress, BRS and AIMIM were joining hands to keep the BJP out of the mayor’s post in Karimnagar, despite the party’s strong showing in the municipal polls.He claimed the three parties together secured only 26 wards but were attempting to capture the mayor’s chair “against the people’s verdict”. Sanjay said he received information that BRS corporators were being asked to back the Congress nominee, while AIMIM was staking claim to the mayor’s post. Addressing a press conference at the BJP office, Sanjay demanded clarity from the BRS and Congress leadership on whether the move was directed by their high command or local leaders, and whether there was a tacit understanding between the two parties before the polls. “If the three parties go against the voters’ verdict, the BJP would not leave the issue, and people would revolt against the parties,” Sanjay said. He maintained that the BJP’s vote share rose significantly compared to previous elections and said Karimnagar voters had reposed faith in the party. Citing development funds, he said the central govt sanctioned Rs 1,400 crore to Karimnagar, while alleging that the Congress govt had not released funds to municipalities and corporations over the past two years. BJP govt in 2028Taking a swipe at the state intelligence wing, Sanjay said he was informed that it had predicted the BJP would be restricted to 13 seats, but the party emerged as a major force in Karimnagar. He asserted that the BJP would form the govt in Telangana in 2028. On AIMIM’s revival day celebrations, Sanjay questioned what ‘revival’ meant and asked whether the party intended to bring back Razakar rule. He said Muslim women supported the BJP after the NDA govt passed the triple talaq bill in Parliament.
