Azharuddin promises impartial probe into Banswada violence

Hyderabad: Minorities welfare minister Mohammed Azharuddin on Monday assured a delegation of AIMIM MLAs that a thorough and impartial investigation will be conducted into the Banswada violence and that action would be taken against those responsible for disturbing communal harmony.The minister said maintaining peace and protecting the rights and properties of all citizens was the govt’s responsibility. The AIMIM delegation, led by Malakpet legislator Ahmed Balala, met the minister and expressed concern over recent clashes between two groups in Banswada, which resulted in minor vandalism and tension in the area.The AIMIM leaders told the minister that eight Muslims have been arrested in connection with the incident and sought a fair and impartial review of the cases. They said innocent individuals should not be harassed and appealed for their release after proper legal examination.The delegation also raised the issue of alleged looting and damage to Muslim-owned shops during the violence and requested that adequate compensation be provided to affected traders.The reported demolition of Masjid-e-Maulana was also discussed, with the AIMIM leaders expressing concern. Azharuddin said the matter would be examined carefully and that appropriate steps would be taken as per law.
