Autopsy reveals man died from stab wound, wife faces FIR in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: A case was registered against a woman on Wednesday, three days after her husband died of suspected heart attack. The case was filed against Mamta after the autopsy report revealed that Sunil (45), a retired Indian Navy personnel, died due to a sharp object piercing his heart at their home in Nakhdola village in the Kherki Daula area.Initially, family members told police that Sunil suffered a heart attack on Jan 18. However, doctors alerted police about an injury mark near the heart, raising suspicion. “Sunil’s injury was not accidental in nature. The autopsy conducted by a board of doctors found that the object pierced the left side of his chest and ruptured his heart,” investigating officer (SI) Ranjit Singh said.Following the findings, police interrogated Mamta, who told them the injury was caused accidentally when she tried to support her husband as he was falling in an intoxicated state. Mamta said Sunil consumed alcohol and was heading towards the washroom when he began to stumble and fall. At the time, she was cutting vegetables and had a knife in her hand. While attempting to hold and support him, the knife allegedly pierced his chest, leaving him critically injured. She then took Sunil to a private hospital in Gurgaon, where he was declared dead.Based on the medical report and her statement, the case was registered under Section 105 of BNS (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder). Sunil retired around five to six years ago. He was currently working with a private company and lived with his wife and their two sons, aged 17 and 12. The body was handed over to the family.
