At least four have been injured in a mass stabbing at a Washington DC metro station.
Nine Montgomery County fire rescue units have been deployed to Silver Spring Metro Station in Silver Spring, Maryland – just a few metres from Washington DC’s city boundaries – to render aid.
Three trauma patients were evaluated by Montgomery County’s emergency aid services.
The patients were then taken to hospital by emergency services, with a fourth patient not taken.
Metro Transit police said the incident occurred outside of their property, with no impact to service.
Montgomery County Police told GB News: “At approximately 6 pm [11pm GMT], MCPD responded to the intersection of Wayne Ave. and Ramsey Ave. for the report of an assault in progress.
“Three juvenile victims were stabbed and transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
“No suspects are in custody at this time.”
Customers using the Metro transit service have been asked to avoid the area while the investigation is ongoing.
This is the second major incident to happen just outside the capitol today.
At 2.15 pm [7.15 GMT] a school shooting occurred in the county at Wootton High School in Rockville.
One student was shot and transported to hospital, while the suspect, a fellow student, was quickly identified and arrested by Montgomery Country Police.
This comes as Donald Trump has cracked down on crime in the nation’s capital, issuing an executive order which declared a “crime emergency”.
The order, released in August 2025, deployed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) to the streets of Washington DC, with additional National Guard troops deployed from states such as Ohio, South Carolina, and Louisiana.
Trump has faced criticism for the deployment of Ice in Minnesota in immigration crackdowns.
