Hyderabad: The state govt is preparing to convene the assembly to present the budget for the financial year 2026-27.The budget session is tentatively scheduled to begin on Feb 26, though an official announcement is yet to be made. A final decision is expected after the state cabinet meeting on Feb 23. Finance minister and deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka is expected to present the budget in the assembly on Feb 28. The finance department has completed most of the groundwork and is in the final stages of drafting the annual budget proposals, sources said. Allocations this year are likely to be higher than in the previous budget, with a strong emphasis on welfare programmes and infrastructure development. The govt is also considering extending the session to around 15 days to allow detailed discussion on the proposals. The ruling Congresss aims to address issues raised by the opposition and push through several key bills during the session.
