Assam minister, officials take stock ahead of Shah visit
On February 21, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to launch the Vibrant Village Program 2.0 in the picturesque border village of Natanpur, situated in Cachar.

Silchar: With Union home minister Amit Shah scheduled to visit Natanpur, a village along the India-Bangladesh border in the Katigorah assembly constituency, on Feb 21 to inaugurate the ‘Vibrant Village Program 2.0’ (VVP 2.0), a team led by minister Kaushik Rai, Cachar district commissioner Ayush Garg, superintendent of police Partha Pratim Das, and top officials from the Border Security Force on Thursday visited the village to inspect the progress of the arrangements.According to official sources, two temporary helipads are being constructed to facilitate Shah’s arrival. The main event venue and the stage are being set up in strict adherence to international border laws, maintaining mandatory distance from the barbed-wire fencing. The road connecting Kushiarkul market to the border is currently undergoing renovation to ensure seamless connectivity.The ‘Vibrant Village Program’ focuses on holistic development of border regions, aiming to curb migration from these areas by providing modern amenities, better roads and sustainable livelihood opportunities. The launch of the second phase from the Cachar border underscores the Centre’s commitment to strengthening the eastern frontier.Shah’s visit is being viewed with political and diplomatic significance, coming ahead of the upcoming polls and amid the evolving geopolitical equation with Bangladesh. Shah’s presence at the zero point is expected to send a strong message regarding national security and border management.
