Noida: Air quality deteriorated back to ‘very poor’ after two days in the ‘poor’ zone on Tuesday. Noida logged an AQI of 367, a considerable shift from 274 the day before, while Greater Noida’s AQI shifted to 384 from 258. Ghaziabad’s AQI similarly deteriorated to 358 from Monday’s 287.Delhi’s air quality deteriorated to the very poor zone with an AQI of 360. It was 297 in the poor range on Monday.The air quality is likely to stay very poor until Jan 16 and even after, according to the Centre’s Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi.According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board portal, all four of Noida’s air monitoring stations recorded AQI in the ‘very poor’ category. Sector 1 recorded the worst AQI at 381, followed by Sector 116 (AQI 378), Sector 125 (AQI 366), and Sector 62 (AQI 344). In Greater Noida, Knowledge Park V recorded ‘severe’ AQI at 413, while Knowledge Park III (AQI 356) was in the ‘very poor’ range.In Ghaziabad, both Indirapuram (AQI 385) and Sanjay Nagar (AQI 333) recorded ‘very poor’ air, while data from the Loni and Vasundhara stations was not available on Tuesday.According to the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), predominant surface winds blew from the northwest with speeds below 10 kmph during the afternoon, decreasing to less than 8 kmph by evening.On Wednesday, Noida is likely to witness mainly clear skies with cold wave conditions at a few places. Shallow to moderate fog is expected during the morning hours. Predominant surface winds are likely to be from the west with speeds below 10 kmph in the morning, increasing to 12 kmph in the afternoon before dropping to around 10 kmph during the evening and night.
