Anti-gangster crackdown intensified; public urged to share inputs

Ludhiana: Punjab Police have launched a large-scale campaign to free the state of crime and gangsterism. Khanna SSP Dr Darpan Ahluwalia said the force is committed to eliminating organised crime and gangster networks, and stressed the role of public cooperation in achieving this goal.She said that anyone with reliable information about gangsters, their associates, or any criminal activity can share it confidentially through the anti-gangster helpline, 93946-93946. She assured that the identity of informants would remain fully confidential and their safety would be ensured.

Dr Ahluwalia said police have announced a reward of up to Rs 10 lakh for credible information leading to the arrest of gangsters, encouraging people to come forward without hesitation. She added that tackling gangsters and criminals is not only a police responsibility but a collective responsibility of society.The SSP said Punjab Police has, in recent months, carried out several major actions against gangsterism, arresting dangerous criminals, dismantling networks and recovering illegal weapons. However, she said deeper public cooperation is essential to completely eliminate such networks from the roots. According to her, when citizens actively support the police, the morale of criminals weakens and the broader aim of maintaining peace and harmony becomes achievable.She also underlined the importance of social awareness to keep youth away from criminal elements and to guide those at risk of being drawn towards crime. Creating an environment free of fear, she said, is a central goal of the campaign.Appealing to residents of the district, Dr Ahluwalia urged people to raise their voice against crime without fear and work with the police to help make Punjab safe, peaceful and crime-free. She assured that police would act immediately on every piece of information and that no criminal would be spared. She said the comprehensive campaign will further strengthen law and order and enhance the sense of security among citizens.
