Anbumani slams Stalin for launching elevated road corridor despite Madras high court stay

CHENNAI: PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Thursday accused chief minister M K Stalin of defying the Madras high court’s orders by laying the foundation stone for a Rs 2,100crore 14.2km four-lane elevated road corridor from Thiruvanniyur to Uthandi on the East Coast Road in Chennai despite a stay order. In a post on X, Anbumani said Hyderabad’s KNR Constructions won the Dec 24 contract over Madhya Pradesh’s Thilak Buildcap, which bid Rs 700 crore lower. The Madras high court halted work, rejected govt pleas and ordered govt to review Thilak’s appeal within 10 days. “No action was taken by the govt since then, and laying the foundation stone for the project amid this violates the high court’s orders,” he said.Anbumani charged that Stalin had laid foundation stones for several projects towards the fag end of the DMK regime. He pointed out that Stalin, as the deputy chief minister in 2011, laid foundation stones for medical colleges in Cuddalore, Karur, Dindigul and Pudukottai, but the projects never materialised. He said the voters would punish DMK in the 2026 assembly polls for “deceptive drama” and teach an unforgettable lesson in the assembly elections.
