New Delhi: With large funds released for development works and quality issues flagged by the adviser to the Prime Minister, MCD will convene a review meeting of its engineering machinery, including deputy commissioners of all zones, asking them to follow prescribed construction and road norms. The MCD commissioner will address deputy commissioners of all zones and field engineers on Feb 6 at Kedarnath Auditorium.
“Over the past year, substantial funds were released to MCD by Delhi govt and the Centre for carrying out development works. During review meetings held by the PM’s adviser, chief minister, chief secretary, Commission for Air Quality Management and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, emphasis was laid on ensuring quality execution of works,” the official notice assessed by TOI reads.Authorities directed that all works must be carried out in accordance with Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) norms and Indian Roads Congress (IRC) guidelines. The CAQM also stressed that road works should be executed as per the standard templates issued for different road widths and categories.The meeting will review issues related to the preparation of estimates, contract conditions, technical specifications, supervision of works, quality assurance, responsibilities of engineers, contractor enlistment, monitoring of works and timely submission of reports.
