Amethi: Several details have been revealed against Chandan Verma accused in the murder of four people of the same family in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. Amethi has received shocking information about the main accused Chandan Verma, who killed school teacher Sunil Kumar (34), his wife Poonam Bharti and his two daughters Srishti (5) and review (1.5 years) on 3 October. Poonam’s brother Bhanu Bharti has revealed that Chandan seduced Poonam with false promises and threats and made her inroads in her life.
Bhanu Bharti said that once Chandan forcibly took Poonam’s phone. Saved his number and threatened it again and again. Bhanu mentioned a dreadful incident, in which Chandan stopped him on the road. Poonam was forced to take a selfie with her and later made the photo viral.
Bhanu claims that the intervention of sandalwood was continuously increasing in his life. Recalling the incident of May 19, Bhanu said that the disturbing behavior of sandalwood increased further. That day we and Poonam were going to meet one of our relatives. Chandan stopped us. Bhanu said that he forced Poonam to talk. He took a selfie with him. Later threatened to spread the rumor of the affair, which he also did. However, Bhanu insisted that there were no illicit relations between the two.
Bhanu also told about the incident of 18 August. Chandan called Bhanu that day. He told him that he would kill Sunil. On hearing this, Bhanu ran to his sister’s house. There he found him and his children crying. Poonam told him that Chandan should go to jail, even if I lost my life for it.
Bhanu also told the media that he was the fifth target of sandalwood. The main accused had updated his WhatsApp status a few hours before executing terrible murders that five people were about to die. Bhanu said that sandalwood often threatened him. He said that Chandan used to call me. Putting a gun on his head, he used to say that if I do not talk to my sister, he will commit suicide.
Initially, it was believed that Chandan had intended to kill himself after killing four people of Sunil’s family, but his attempt failed due to no bullet fired from the gun. According to Bhanu, Chandan’s original plan was not to kill itself, as he was his fifth target. Bhanu said that after the murder, Chandan got scared in his mind and left the plan to kill him.
Amethi SP Anoop Singh said that he will make a concrete case against Chandan Verma. He will ensure that he gets maximum punishment. He said that efforts are being made to file charge sheet in record time. Once the charge sheet is filed, we will appeal to pursue the matter faster.
IG Prashant Kumar of Lucknow Range said that an FIR was lodged against Chandan on August 18 for sexual harassment, ST/SC Act and threatening. He said Chandan was arrested the next day and got bail. On 23 September, we also filed a charge sheet in the case.
