Jaipur: Thirteen players from Rajasthan entered the second round of the Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton tournament which got underway at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here on Wednesday.It was a mixed day for the state shuttlers as 18 players lost in the qualifying matches played on the first day.Utkarsh Singh Rathod of Rajasthan was successful in reaching the second round in Under-15 and Under-17 boys singles.In the U-15 boys category, Utkarsh easily defeated Rakshan Rajan of Tamil Nadu 15-5, 15-11, while in the higher age group, he got a walkover from Karthikeya of Telangana.In the U-15 boys singles, Pranav Mulchandani of Rajasthan downed Aarav of Haryana 15-11, 15-10, Mahadev Sharma ousted Aryan Bamb of Madhya Pradesh 15-11, 16-14, Aditya Narayan rallied back to beat Advik Shukla of Telangana in three games 9-15, 15-9, 15-12, Arya Pratap edged past P Arun Kumar of Tamil Nadu in three games 13-15, 15-8, 15-5, while Nishit Agarwal accounted for Daksh of Madhya Pradesh 15-11, 15-10.In the U-17 boys singles, Jatin from Rajasthan thrashed Shivansh from Uttarakhand 15-4, 15-4, while Pearl Pareek from Rajasthan outclassed Vishwa Darji from Gujarat 15-12, 15-11.Aradhya Dhingra sidelined Aashi Gautam from Delhi 15-6, 15-9, Riddhi Sethia thumped Ayna Mishra from Delhi 11-15, 15-13, 15-5 in the U-17 girls singles.In the Under-17 Boys category, Pushkar Girdhar of Madhya Pradesh, Hesan Haris of Karnataka, Prithviraj Singh of Delhi, Krishna Setia of Telangana, Daksh of Haryana, Nikhil Jaikumar of Tamil Nadu, Nilabh of West Bengal, Srihari Binse of Kerala, Rehan of Andhra Pradesh and Chirashyamal Boruah of Assam also managed to reach the second round.In the U-15 boys’ singles, Gaurav S from Karnataka, Darsh Joshi from Gujarat, Karan Kushal from Haryana, Krishang Choudhary from Assam, Rehan from Andhra Pradesh also advanced to the second round.In the U-17 girls’ singles, Dhanya from Andhra Pradesh, Yuvashree from Tamil Nadu, Anvesha from Uttarakhand, Varunda Ramesh from Telangana, Sakshi Rana from Delhi, Karya Raina from Maharashtra, Supruti from Karnataka, Meghan from Uttar Pradesh, Neha S from Tamil Nadu also won their first round matches.According to Chief Referee Milind Deshmukh of Maharashtra, 500 matches will be played from 9 am on Thursday.
