Kanpur: A woman allegedly attempted to kidnap a girl child in Panki area by stuffing the kid into a sack. However, timely intervention by locals saved the kid. The woman was handed over to the police. The incident took place near the Kachchi Basti, located close to Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir in Panki, on Saturday evening. When the woman was leaving after putting the kid into the sack, people nearby heard the child crying. When they stopped the woman, she started running. However, the locals chased and caught her. When they opened the sack, a 3.5-year-old girl was found crying inside.The rescued child was safely handed over to her parents.Initial interrogation revealed that the accused woman was Kunka, wife of Safi Ahmad, a resident of Arya Nagar in Gonda district. Police interrogated the accused woman to find out why she kidnapped the child, whether she was alone in Kanpur, or if there was a gang operating behind this.Panki inspector Manoj Bhadauria said that the woman was being interrogated. No complaint was received yet.
