Vadodara: Commuters will now be able to travel between two parallel roads, easing congestion at Genda Circle during peak hours, after unrestricted traffic movement was allowed on the road connecting Jyoti Ltd on Nanubhai Amin Road with Inorbit Mall on Bhailal Amin Road. The gates restricting access were removed on Thursday night. The road passes through the Alembic Ltd campus, which houses company establishments as well as cafés, restaurants, and art, culture and recreation facilities. Though commuters were not formally barred from using the road, security guards often stopped them, and barricades and gates were installed, causing inconvenience.Sayajigunj MLA and councillor Keyur Rokadiya recently raised the issue at a meeting of elected representatives with the municipal commissioner, seeking clarity on whether the road was a public road and whether building permissions had been granted by showing its width to claim floor space index (FSI).A Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) official said that following the meeting, records were verified. “It emerged that a portion of the road is a public path on record, while another part falls under private property. Although movement was not officially restricted, the presence of security guards, barricades and gates caused inconvenience. We directed that these be removed and that commuters be allowed free movement without questioning,” the official said.
