Lucknow: Dr APJ Abdul Kalam technical university (AKTU) will establish SWAYAM-NPTEL local chapters in its affiliated institutions. These chapters will be responsible for verifying and monitoring the online courses undertaken by BTech students.

The university issued detailed instructions to the affiliated colleges regarding this initiative.“BTech students are pursuing several courses through Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) on the SWAYAM portal. The credits earned from these courses are added to the students’ academic records. Therefore, there is a need to verify these courses and the certificates provided by the students. Under this initiative, all affiliated colleges will establish their own SWAYAM-NPTEL local chapters,” said AKTU vice chancellor, Prof JP Pandey.

He said that these local chapters will monitor the courses taken by their students, maintain records of their progress, and upload this information to the local chapter’s platform. This will enable the university to award credits to these students based on the certificates they provide. All affiliated colleges are required to implement this process mandatorily. Students must register through these local chapters to receive academic credit for their MOOCs courses.
