Lucknow: Prompting party MPs to shun laidback attitude, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday urged them to stay on the move day and night and reach out to the people in need at the grassroots level to ensure party’s victory in 2027 assembly polls. He also cautioned the SP Parliamentarians to use ‘sanyamit bhasha’ (measured language) to stay clear of avoidable unimportant diatribe. Presiding over an exclusive meeting of party MPs at the SP headquarters on Tuesday, Akhilesh said it was time for everyone to roll up their sleeves and stay on their feet 24×7 to make sure that the SP sweeps the elections and forms the govt in Uttar Pradesh in the assembly elections in 2027.
The SP chief had convened a meeting of all his 41 MPs – including 37 from the Lok Sabha and 4 from Rajya Sabha – at the party headquarters in Lucknow for a pep talk on preparations for the assembly elections. As many as 39 MPs attended the meeting, which lasted 2:30 hours and was chaired by Akhilesh Yadav flanked by party’s principal general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Ram Gopal Yadav and party national secretary Rajendra Chaudhary on stage. Mainpuri MP Dimple Yadav, Fatehpur MP Naresh Uttam Patel, Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Lal Suman and SP state president Shyam Lal Pal were also present on stage. Etawah MP Jitendra Kumar Dohare, whose elder brother passed away earlier this month and Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan could not make it to the meeting due to their prior commitments. Akhilesh said all MPs have been assigned specific tasks for assembly segments of their respective parliamentary constituency and underlined the need to make sure that the targets are achieved. He underlined that every MP must work as hard as the rest of the party cadres to make sure that the BJP govt is uprooted in the 2027 assembly elections and people of the state are rid of corruption, rising crime and increasing unemployment. “Today the Constitution of India is in danger, and the rule of law is elusive under the BJP govt. The RSS has always treated democracy unfairly and cheated the Constitution. BJP wants to rig the SIR and there are glaring differences between the voters list of the ECI and the State Election Commission (SEC). BJP is going for foul play. People must be told about all these things in detail. Everyone will have to put in time and effort for this,” Akhilesh said.
