Chennai: AIADMK youth wing, along with youth wings of partners in the NDA alliance, organised statewide protests on Saturday, accusing DMK govt of failing to curb the “growing drug menace” in Tamil Nadu.State and district-level functionaries of AIADMK, took part in the demonstrations, alleging deterioration in law and order due to “unchecked circulation of narcotics and contraband substances”. Protesters alleged that increasing drug abuse among youngsters led to a surge in crime, particularly offences against women and children. They raised slogans condemning state govt and demanded stringent action to dismantle drug networks. In Chennai, the protest was led by BJP youth wing leader S G Suryah near Egmore, where cadres criticised govt for “administrative inaction”. They spoke about law and order issues “involving youngsters addicted to drugs”, and appealed to people to extend their support to AIADMK-led NDA in the assembly election to restore law and order in the state.
