Ahmedabad: Pol terraces rented out for up to Rs 30k

Ahmedabad: Several tour operators and residents of the Walled City are renting out terraces at prices ranging from Rs 5,000 per person to Rs 30,000 for group bookings this Uttarayan season.Areas such as Khadia and Kalupur are witnessing good demand, particularly from Gujaratis returning from Mumbai, Pune and other cities, as well as visitors from north Indian states eager to experience the city’s way of celebrating Uttarayan.According to tour operators, terrace packages priced between Rs 10,000 and Rs 30,000 for groups typically include breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and kite spools. The arrangements are proving lucrative for homeowners. Nirav Modi, a resident of Ghanchi Ram ni Pol in Khadia, has rented out his terrace to a group from Pune. ” A group from Pune is coming to enjoy the city’s Uttarayan . This provides sustainable business for homeowners and also generates employment for other residents, ” he said.Ajay Modi, a tour operator, said his company has secured three terraces for rental. “Over the years, this concept has gained significant traction, and we’re seeing many enquiries. While the city is known for its love for kites, the Walled City offers the perfect setting for an authentic Gujarati Uttarayan experience, ” he said.Pallav Patel, 58, a Satellite resident, has booked a terrace for two days at Rs 30,000 for a group of 16 people, including friends and family. “We used to go to Sarangpur earlier, but with our ancestral home no longer available, we decided to rent a terrace for two days for about Rs 30,000. We will be ordering food for both days so everyone can enjoy,” he said. However, tour operators noted that NRI bookings are down this year due to changes in US visa policies. NRIs typically constitute a major customer segment for terrace rentals during Uttarayan, they added.
