Hyderabad: Senior BJP leader and Maharashtra minister Ashish Shelar on Monday released a chargesheet against the Congress govt, accusing it of failing to deliver on its promises and betraying public trust.Addressing the media, Shelar, who is BJP’s in-charge for the Telangana municipal polls, said the chargesheet reflected the “anger and frustration” of people on the ground. He alleged that both the previous BRS regime and the present Congress govt had misled voters with assurances that remain unfulfilled.
Shelar said the BJP, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was committed to a development-focused agenda across the country. He added that if voted to power in the civic polls scheduled for Feb 11, the BJP would ensure a corruption-free and development-oriented municipal administration, with priority given to improving basic civic services. Municipal mess: RaoTelangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao targeted chief minister A Revanth Reddy, holding him directly responsible for what he described as the ‘municipal mess’ in the state. Rao pointed out that the chief minister oversees key departments such as municipal administration and urban development, making him accountable for the current situation. On the Congress govt’s performance, Rao asked whether living standards had genuinely improved since it came to power. He further alleged large-scale misuse of municipal finances, claiming that around ₹2,500 crore collected through property tax in municipal corporations was siphoned off, while central funds meant for urban development were diverted elsewhere.
