Ahmedabad: An Adani Group-backed social security initiative has provided long-term financial support to 500 women with disabilities. Under Adani Mangal Seva, anchored by the Adani Foundation, each beneficiary has been given a Rs 10 lakh fixed deposit, structured to provide a fixed monthly income, with access to the principal amount after 10 years. The beneficiaries, aged 25-40, were identified in partnership with non-profit Youth for Jobs and hold Unique Disability ID cards. The programme is designed to support up to 500 divyang women annually for a minimum period of five years.The completion of support for the first cohort was announced during a gathering held in Ahmedabad on Thursday to mark the first wedding anniversary of Diva and Jeet Adani on Feb 7. The commitment is structured to span at least five years, supporting up to 500 divyang women a year, with an annual allocation of Rs 50 crore to sustain the initiative and its long-term impact. The initiative is being implemented with State Bank of India as the banking partner.
