Abducted woman rescued from abandoned car’s boot in Ballia

Varanasi: A 55-year-old woman was rescued from the boot of a car abandoned by her alleged abductors near Bichhibojh canal in the Sikandarpur police station area in Ballia on Monday evening, police said. She was rushed to a hospital after her health condition deteriorated. Police swung into action immediately after the woman managed to contact her nephew with her phone, and he alerted Sikandarpur cops. In-charge of Sikandarpur police station Chandrashekhar Yadav said: “After locating the car near the canal, a mechanic was called to break the dickie, after which the woman was freed. In view of her health condition, she was rushed to a hospital.”The story of her kidnapping puzzled the cops, especially after it became clear that the kidnapper borrowed the car from its owner through a local youth in the name of taking it to a garage for washing but did not return it. Yadav said raids are being carried out to nab the accused and his accomplice. The case is being thoroughly investigated, he said, adding that the motive behind kidnapping will become clear after the arrest of the two accused. The woman told police on Sunday she went to Unchwar after receiving news of her mother’s health. While returning home the same day, two bike-borne youths offered to drop her. After travelling some distance, they made her smell something, following which she fell unconscious. When she regained consciousness, she found herself locked inside the car’s trunk. On finding that her phone with her, she called her nephew, Nitish, for help.Nitish Ram of Uchrav village immediately alerted Sikandarpur police, which ultimately rescued her. The police traced the car owner, who said an old acquaintance (a bus driver) took his car on the pretext of getting it washed on Sunday but did not return. After that, police started searching for the bus driver and his accomplice.
