Pune: Keeping a key to the main door lock in a shoe rack cost dearly to a 47-year-old resident of Old Sangvi. An unknown person opened the door using the key and stole gold jewellery worth Rs 1 lakh from the victim’s house on Tuesday afternoon. The victim lodged a complaint with the Sangvi police on Wednesday.An officer from the Sangvi police said that on Tuesday, complainant left for work and kept the key in the shoe rack outside for his son but was taken by the unknown person to rob the jewellery.The complainant, his wife and son reached home around 2.15 pm. “The complainant took the key from the shoe rack and opened the door. When his wife went inside to keep the jewellery in the cupboard, she found that the remaining jewellery was missing,” the officer said.He said the complainant and his wife searched for the jewellery in the house and then approached the police. “Our investigations are on,” he said.
