After reviewing reports, the THRC said if the allegations are established, they would amount to serious misconduct, including extortion and possible misappropriation of public funds by an elected representative. The commission directed the Tripura DGP to register an FIR if a preliminary inquiry confirms a cognisable offence, and to submit an action taken report within one week. The THRC also made the chief executive member and chief executive officer of the TTAADC, the SP of Dhalai district, and the OC of Chawmanu Police Station parties to the case, seeking detailed reports from them within two weeks.A notice was issued to Hangsa Kumar Tripura, seeking his response to the allegations.
