Man, son point gun at bus driver who didn’t give way

Chennai: A father and son threatened a bus driver with a gun during an altercation near Mannivakkam on Wednesday morning. Police said Devadas, 75, a businessman from Kolathur, and his son Arjun, 33, were travelling by car to inspect maintenance work at their agricultural land in Walajabad, Kancheepuram, when they got behind a bus taking workers from Tambaram to a private factory at Sriperumbudur. The bus was driven by Manikandan, 33, from Ramanathapuram.

Devadas told police he honked repeatedly because the bus was moving slowly and not giving way. This led to an argument between Devadas and Manikandan, which escalated into a scuffle, during which Devadas allegedly pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot Manikandan. Frightened, Manikandan alerted the Manimangalam police station. Police have detained Devadas and Arjun for questioning. Further investigation is underway.
