Stay on Arpora club demolition extended till March 13

Panaji: The additional sessions court extended the stay order in the case of the Birch by Romeo Land demolition matter until the next hearing on March 13. The panchayat opposed the extension of the stay, but the court granted the stay until the next hearing.Vijay Lakshmi, appointed as the guardian of her husband, Surinder Kumar Khosla, an OCI holder based in the UK, challenged the demolition order of April 2024. She submitted that the interim stay, which subsisted throughout the pendency of the appeal, ought to continue until its conclusion. Her advocate claimed that the panchayat did not follow procedure in the demolition matter.The directorate of panchayats earlier this month dismissed Khosla’s petition challenging the Arpora Nagoa panchayat’s order to demolish the the nightclub Birch by Romeo Lane, where 25 persons lost their lives on Dec 6.
