Kanpur: Local MP Ramesh Awasthi said that a fund of Rs 350 crore was allotted for renovation and upgradation of Green Park stadium, and the first instalment of the fund- Rs 45 crore, has been sanctioned for the first phase of the work. In a meeting with divisional commissioner Vijyendra Pandian, officials of the Sports Directorate and UP Cricket Association held at the stadium on Wednesday, the MP said that a proposal to reduce the stadium rent was forwarded to state govt. Once approved, Green Park would become the stadium with the lowest rent in Uttar Pradesh making it easier to host major tournaments like IPL, UP T20 League and international matches here.A blueprint was being developed for the first phase, said the commissioner, adding that the sports department would soon present the final action plan.
