Sanitation worker injured as car rams into her

Sambalpur: A woman sanitation worker was critically injured after a speeding car hit her at Sindurpank on the outskirts of Sambalpur city on Wednesday morning.The accident took place around 7.30 am while Pinki Nayak (37) of Nuapada was sweeping the main road as part of her daily duty. According to sources, a car allegedly rammed into her from behind in a rash and negligent manner. The impact left Pinki with severe injuries, including profuse bleeding, and three toes of her left foot reportedly dislocated. Locals rushed to the spot and shifted her to VIMSAR, Burla, where she is undergoing treatment. Police later arrested the accused driver, Saurabh Kumar Jena (24) of Pradhanpada under Ainthapali police limits. The vehicle has been seized, and the accused produced in court.
